TRX-2E First Power-Up: Bandplan, Clock & Password

Summary: The prompts the TRX-2E shows the first time it’s switched on, and how to set the clock and a power-on password.

Turning On

Press and hold the power button until the display says “release button”.

Bandplan

On first power-up the scanner asks you to choose the bandplan. The 2019 guide lists United Kingdom (UK), Australia (AUS), New Zealand (NZL), South Africa (ZAF) and France (FRA); use the arrow keys and press SEL. The band plans addendum (for CPU version 7.3) lists further countries. Choose UK for the UK, since the bandplan decides the range and step size used in each band. See TRX-2E Bandplans & Frequency Coverage.

Date and Time

The scanner then asks for the date and time. Use the left and right keys to choose a digit and up and down to change it, then press SEL. Press SKIP to skip. You can also set the clock from the PC application.

These prompts appear only once. Afterwards change the date and time from the Main Menu, and the bandplan from the Global Settings menu (the BandPlan setting).

Power-On Password

  1. Press MENU and scroll to Set Password, then press right.
  2. Set the password with the arrows or the numeric keypad.
  3. Press SEL to accept, or MENU to exit without saving.

Anyone using the EZ Scan software can reset the password, so it gives only limited protection.

Next Steps

Fill the scanner with your own frequencies: see TRX-2E Programming Conventional Channels & Editing Objects and TRX-2E Loading Frequencies From Squawker PC & Squawker Online.
