SDS200E Fire Tone-Out

Summary: Setting up and using Tone-Out on the SDS200E for two-tone, single-tone and group paging tones.

What It Does

Tone-Out watches for paging tones: two-tone sequential, single-tone and group tones. The manual marks Fire Tone-Out as for USA/Canada only. You can set up to 32 tone-out settings. If several settings use the same RF settings but different tones, all of the matching ones are used. No other function works while the scanner is in tone-out standby mode.

Setting Up

Menu, Tone-Out For…, Tone-Out Setup, choose the setting to edit:

  • Edit Name – the alpha tag.
  • Set Frequency – the RF frequency, modulation and attenuation.
  • Set Tone – values for Tone A and Tone B. For a single short tone set only Tone A; for a single long tone set only Tone B; for two tones set both. To search for tones leave both at 0.
  • Set Delay Time – how long the scanner waits after the carrier drops before returning to standby.
  • Set Alert – the tone and the indicator colour and pattern used when a matching two-tone alert is received.

Using It

Choose Menu, Tone-Out For…, Tone-Out Standby, or assign it to a Search Key, and scroll to select the tone-out settings to use. The display’s Tone-Out mode has its own colours (see SDS200E Customising the Display).
