SDS100E Analyze: System Status & LCN Finder

Summary: Using the SDS100E’s Analyze tools to check a trunked system’s health and to find LCNs.

System Status

System Status shows a trunked system’s signal strength, decode quality and how busy it is in an easy-to-read display.

  1. Menu, Analyze, System Status.
  2. The scanner asks for a trunked system to analyse. The system must currently be scannable (in an active Favorites List or the main database, and within the range set for scanning).
  3. Enter the first few letters of its name and press E for the list of matches, then choose the system.
  4. Choose the site from the list of scannable sites and press E.

The display shows S = Signal Strength, Q = Decode Quality and A = System Activity.

LCN Finder

LCN Finder helps you work out the correct LCN (Logical Channel Number) settings for systems that need them: EDACS, LTR, MotoTRBO, DMR Tier III and NXDN.

  1. Create the system, using any number as the LCN for each frequency.
  2. Menu, Analyze, LCN Finder.
  3. Choose the system (typing the first few letters) and the site, as for System Status. The system must be scannable and of a type that needs LCNs.
  4. Let it run. Once all LCNs are found you can save them to the system. If you stop before all have been found, you can still save the ones found so far.

LCN Finder works best on systems with moderate activity: too much or too little traffic makes it take longer.
