UBCD3600XLT Programming Departments, Channels & Quick-Storing

Summary: How to create departments and channels on the UBCD3600XLT, quickly store a frequency or talkgroup, and what each channel option does.

Departments

Menu, Manage Favorites, the list, Review/Edit System, the system, Edit Department, then New Department (or select one).

  • Edit Name
  • Set Department Quick Key – 0-99 or none. A department with no quick key is always scanned unless avoided.
  • Edit Channel – see below.
  • Set Location Information – a circle (latitude, longitude, range 0-6000) or rectangles, exactly as for sites.
  • Set Avoid – Stop Avoiding, Temporary Avoid or Permanent Avoid.
  • Delete Department and New Department.

Quickly Storing a Frequency or TGID

1. In Scan mode, press Channel to hold on any channel. 2. Enter the frequency or TGID and press E/yes. It must be in the right format for the system you’re holding on. For example, you can’t enter a Motorola Type II TGID while holding on an LTR system. 3. At Quick Freq/TGID Save?: – Press E/yes to save it into the Quick Save Favorites List / Quick Save System / Quick Save Department (no quick keys assigned). – Press ./no, then E/yes at the next prompt, to choose the Favorites List, System and Department yourself. 4. You then arrive at the Channel Options menu to finish the settings. Press Avoid to skip that and go back.

Creating a Channel

Menu, Manage Favorites, the list, Review/Edit System, the system, Edit Department, the department, Edit Channel, New Channel. Enter the frequency or TGID and press E/yes. If it already exists you’re asked Frequency Exists Accept? (Y/N).

Channel Options

Not all options appear for all channels.

  • Edit Name
  • Edit Frequency or TGID – see UBCD3600XLT Entering IDs, Fleet Maps & Status Bits.
  • Set Audio Type (Conventional and Motorola) – All if the channel might have both digital and analogue; Digital Only; Analog Only. If you’re sure a channel is analogue, choose Analog Only, so the system’s Digital Waiting Time doesn’t clip the start of transmissions. Digital options include the P25 NAC (Search, or Set P25 NAC; you can also store a blinking NAC by pressing E/yes in Scan mode) and the DMR Color Code.
  • Set CTCSS/DCS (analogue) – Search (displays tones), a specific CTCSS or DCS tone, or Set Lockout to avoid a particular tone. You can store a blinking tone with E/yes in Scan mode.
  • Set Number Tag – 0-999 or blank.
  • Set Modulation (Conventional only) – Auto (default), AM, FM, NFM, WFM or FMB.
  • Set Attenuator (Conventional only) – about 20 dB; default Off.
  • Set Service Type – default Custom 1. See UBCD3600XLT Troubleshooting & Reference Tables.
  • Set Delay Time – seconds to stay after a transmission ends: -10, -5, 0, 1, 2 (default), 3, 4, 5, 10 or 30. A negative delay forces a resume after that many seconds.
  • Set Priority – default Off. For Priority ID Scan, also enable Priority ID Scan on the system.
  • Set Alert – tone, level, light colour and pattern; default Off.
  • Set Avoid
  • Volume Offset – -3 to +3, also toggled in Scan Hold with Func + 0.
  • Delete Channel and New Channel.
