UBCD3600XLT Sentinel Software, Profiles, Firmware & Resetting

Summary: What Uniden’s Sentinel software does for the UBCD3600XLT, how to install it, update the firmware, and how to clear or reset the scanner.

Sentinel

Sentinel is Uniden’s PC software for this scanner family. It manages Profiles and Favorites Lists and updates the firmware.

• Profiles are snapshots of your scanner’s set-up. A profile contains your configuration settings and your Favorites Lists, avoids and system settings. Sentinel can hold several profiles, for example one for a place you visit regularly.
• Favorites Lists can be created in Sentinel and associated with specific profiles. You can also create your own systems or edit existing systems. When a profile is written to the scanner, only the Favorites Lists associated with it are written.
• Sentinel is also the tool to use for trunked systems, which UKAFG’s Squawker PC Programmer doesn’t handle (see UBCD3600XLT Loading Frequencies From Squawker PC & Squawker Online).

Installing Sentinel

1. Connect the scanner to your PC with the USB cable and turn the scanner on.
2. Choose Mass Storage on the scanner. USB Mass Storage is shown while it’s connected.
3. The microSD card appears on your PC as an extra drive.
4. Open the drive and double-click setup.exe in the Setup folder.
5. When installation finishes, Sentinel is installed. Disconnect the USB cable.

Sentinel notifies you automatically if a newer version is available.

Updating the Firmware

Uniden releases firmware updates from time to time to improve functions, add features or fix issues. It takes a few minutes:

1. Connect the scanner to your PC with the USB cable and select Mass Storage.
2. In Sentinel, choose Update and then Update Firmware, and follow the prompts. Sentinel connects to the internet to find the current version.

Restore Options

Menu, Settings, Restore Options offers two resets:

• Clear User Data (Full Reset) deletes all Favorites Lists and locations, resets all profile options to default, clears all avoids and deletes all recording sessions, discovery logs and weather event records. You can also do this by pressing and holding 2, 9 and Dept while you power on.
• Reset User Settings resets only the scanner’s settings. Your Favorites Lists are kept.
