UBC125XLT/C Programmer – Overview & Getting Connected

The UBC125XLT/C has 10 banks of 50 channels — 500 channels total, matching the radio’s real hardware capacity exactly. You’re always editing into this fixed structure; banks themselves can’t be added or removed, only filled, edited, or cleared.

Before You Start

Programming writes directly to your scanner’s memory and can overwrite what’s already there — read Before You Start — Understanding the Risks if you haven’t already, and make sure you understand that a backup happens automatically before any write (see Reading, Backing Up & Restoring below), which is your safety net if something doesn’t go to plan.

Getting Connected

  1. In Connect Settings, create or select your profile with Scanner Type set to UBC125XLT/C, choose the correct COM port, and tick Enable Programming.
  2. Open Programmer, select that profile, and click Open Editor.
  3. When you’re ready to read from or write to the radio, Squawker PC opens its own connection independently — it doesn’t need Squawker Connect’s live session running at the same time. It tries a few connection speeds automatically until the scanner responds.
  4. If it can’t connect, double-check: the scanner is powered on, the USB cable is properly seated, you’ve selected the correct COM port, and no other program (including Squawker Connect, if that’s got the port open) is using it.

Important: for the UBC125XLT/C specifically, Squawker PC doesn’t verify that the physical radio plugged in actually matches the profile you’ve selected (this check does exist for the SDS100/SDS200/UBCD3600XLT radio family, but not this one) — if you have more than one scanner or profile, make sure you’ve picked the right one before you program.
