How can we help?

Choosing Your SDR Hardware

Fast Scanner supports these SDR devices, each with its own tuning range:

  • Airspy — 24 MHz–1.8 GHz (VHF/UHF only).
  • AirspyHF — 5 kHz–31 MHz and 60–260 MHz (HF plus a band of VHF).
  • SDRplay — roughly 1 kHz–2 GHz.
  • Fobos — 100 kHz–6 GHz.
  • RTL-SDR — 0.5–28.8 MHz via direct sampling, plus 24 MHz–1.766 GHz normal tuning.

Selecting and Rescanning

Pick your device from the Radio dropdown in each profile’s tab. If it doesn’t appear, it either isn’t plugged in or hasn’t been detected yet — click ↻ Rescan to have Fast Scanner re-probe for connected hardware (this is blocked while actively scanning — stop first if you need to rescan). SDRplay devices also show an Antenna dropdown — Ant A, Ant B, or Ant C — which takes effect the next time you press Start; the app doesn’t offer guidance on which port to choose for your specific SDRplay model, so check your device’s own documentation for that.

If a Device Is Already in Use

  • By another app or the OS — it still appears in the list, but greyed out and labelled “in use by another app,” and can’t be selected.
  • By another profile within Squawker PC — if you try to start a device that’s already running on a different profile in this app, you’ll be asked whether to stop it there and switch it to the profile you’re starting now, or cancel.
